Honoring the American Woman Suffrage Movement
American Graphic Press, an independent press on the West Coast, focuses on creating educational resources on the American women’s suffrage movement. Our well-researched, high-quality publications aim to raise the visibility of this important chapter in American history because women WON their right to vote, they weren’t just given it or granted it as some histories claim. American suffragists worked, sacrificed, and suffered for their cause. They campaigned throughout the country and bravely fought powerful, entrenched opponents for years.
During the movement’s final decade, 1910–1920, women won the right to vote in 11 states, including California and New York. In 1920, they finally won passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, enfranchising all women. Although overlooked by historians in the past, the suffragists’ inspired and exciting drive for political freedom is central to American democracy. Their movement offers us important lessons from the past and serves as a source of inspiration for the future. American Graphic Press is proud to champion their story.
